Eneko Atxa is the man behind Azurmendi in Bilbao, the three Michelin-starred restaurant voted one of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Born and bred in the Basque region of Spain, Eneko is immensely proud of his local cuisine. His London debut, Eneko Basque Kitchen & Bar offers a simpler more relaxed menu which is deeply rooted in traditional Basque cooking. Eneko Axta won 'Best Entrepreneur' at the GQ Spain Men of the Year Awards 2017.

Jose opened Eneko London with Eneko Atxa in September 2016 and became Head Chef in January 2020. He’s thrilled to develop menus with chef Eneko which celebrate the Basque Country’s traditional dishes with a modern touch. Jose studied at culinary school in Seville before working with renowned Spanish chefs Martin Berasategui and Santi Santamaria. Since then he joined the Aqua group, working at Aqua Nueva and Aqua Shard in London and Aqua Zafran in Hong Kong, as well as Peninsula Restaurant at InterContinental London.
